I congratulate the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong and the Minoru Endoh Music Foundation from Japan for organizing the Asia Song Festival, Hong Kong '97.
We are proud to see our music professionals gain international prizes and recognition in recent years. CASH has played an important role in developing the professional standards of the art of music in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is honoured to host this international music event which I am sure will further promote a better understanding among the participating countries and territories through the medium of music.
I extend a warm welcome to all participants, and in particular to those who have come from overseas, amid wish the Festival every success.
